- By the way, we love this program and will be taking our 3 ½ yr old granddaughter
on her 2nd tour of duty!
- Wanting to give it a try. I need to start walking and this is the best thing to
start off with. Glad trails are short.
- I am very interested in hiking this program, and I think this is a wonderful pairing
to go with the Trek the Trails bicycle rides. Please get the word out to a greater
audience as I missed this completely! This is a good way to get in shape to expand
ones hiking into our state's great hiking paths.
- Looking forward to discovering new trails around our county!
- We love the Allen County Trailblazer program!
- We enjoy walking the parks & hiking trails. We affixed our medallions to the walking
sticks we rec. They look good. Thks. to the Parks Departments & the Allen County
Trailblazers & their wonderful employees. :-) God bless you!
- I love to walk and hike the outdoors. I have enjoyed the parks, the woods, the wetlands,
the preserves, the protected and unprotected areas in and around Fort Wayne my whole
life. I have enjoyed discovering the Carmel and Indy areas this year, but return
to the Fortoften. My 90 year old dad has even joined me off smith road to walk the
paved path there and I will never forget those walks this summer and fall. Thank
you!
- My wife and I participated and enjoyed the experience; we set a goal of walking all
fifteen of the trails and thanks to some beautiful weather we were able to attain
our goal. We picked up the medallions at Fox Island--they look very sharp. Part of
the fun was just finding the location of the trails--just a great idea to get people
involved and more aware of what is available in Allen County. We had our favorites
and a few we were not too impressed with--overall an excellent program. Our favorites
were the two County trails, the five ACRES Land Trust Trails and Deetz Nature Park.
We told some friends who have lived in Fort Wayne all their lives and they couldn't
believe Mengerson which seems to be hidden in the city. I grew up on a farm many
years ago but I still remember all the grasshoppers during thrashing time--I think
the grasshoppers at Arrowhead Marsh were more numerous. Thank you for the chance
to participate--hope there is a plan for next year.
- Woo-Hoo! My husband and I have our medallions...stopped in for them at the New Haven
Parks office yesterday! We have thoroughly enjoyed the hikes and discovering all
that the parks, nature areas and preserves have to offer that we were not aware of!
We are so looking forward to hiking the trails of 2012! Thank you, Allen County Trailblazers
and participating agencies!
- Certainly enjoyed the memories of this year's hikes. Waiting to see next year's trails.
Hope a good time was had by all. Thanks Allen County Trailblazers and all the parks
departments. :) Also, this was an amazing idea, I hope it continues for many years.
What a wonderful way to see so many different parks around us!
- Awesome! We completed our trails on October 23rd. My kids are super excited about
the medallion!!!!
- The hikes and discovering all that these trails have to offer was most enjoyable.
Hope the program continues!!
- Our family had so much fun doing this! We don't really want to wait until September
to start again, but I guess it gives us something to look forward to.
What past hikers have said about the program……….
Don’t just take our word for it !!!!!!!!!!!
